The Kids Art Studio

This is a blog about kids and art. We have enormous fun in our classes. We learn along the journey with art... we learn about art and what it is and we explore those artisits who have gone before us. I work from the premise that ALL people can learn how to draw. I hope you feel inspired by some of these ideas just as you have inspired us in some of the projects we have taken on.

About Me

Petal
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
I am a Qualified teacher. I specialise in Preschool Education and the foundation Phase initially with a focus in art and isiXhosa. Over time these interests have grown and my focus has shifted and grown with my children. I love teaching art to children and adults as well as tutoring children who struggle at school for various reasons. I believe in justice and in using my time and resourses to right the wrongs of the past. As South Africa, we have painful and deeply horrific past. I hold that my faith in Jesus is not separated from justice work in in this world and that this is a call on my life as I live to honour God. Art and justice are linked in ways we can learn and be challenged as well as challenge others to live life with purpose. I walk through this life with Doug. We have 4 children together. I have written a great deal about ADHD. We are an ADHD family. My heart is that through our struggles and triumphs we can give some help and ideas, encouragement and insight, for others who are on a similar journey to ours. My Hope is that you will be inspired to get invloved in creating and enjoying art in the city of Cape Town and indeed the world.
