The Chair --- Take a seat!

This was a fabulous lesson. The children had to draw a chair set before them. The actual chair was set at an angle for each child. Wow!! Now 3d vision came into play here. For children who struggle with spacial viewing, this was a very tricky lesson.

After drawing in pencil, the children then mixed white and black to create a few varieties of grey.  The chair or positive space was then painted in the black, white and grey!!!

Then, the negative space or background was divided in 2. One colour was chosen by the child. The child then painted half the background in the colour and half in a mix of either black - tone or white - a tint.

Busting Bugs!

This was a beautiful lesson. it was full of detail and cearful observation and of course, colour.
I love these works of art. They show so much of how these children have grown in art over the year. Legs have 2 sides to them!
Wings have detail.
Bodies have bits.
Well done little artisits.

We used liquid ink for the colour.
It is like painitn with koki.

Fun with clay

This was a lesson in observational art using clay. It was extremely successful and enormously fun. We used air drying clay. Each child made a pinch pot to start just to get them used to the feel of clay and to play a bit with the way it moulds together.

Then, each child had to find a flower in the garden that he or she loved. We looked at the paetal shape and form. They then set to work build and moulding their flower. These where what they came up with.Simply delightful!!
