What is in a Tube?

Welcome back to art 2022. This was a beautiful beginning to the art year. We began with looking at  Swedish born, American artist, Claes Oldenburg. Oldenburg is an artist who is best known for his sculptures of every day items.

Under the umbrella of 'every day items' we decided to have some fun with our tooth paste tubes.

We began with 3 fun drawing excercises to get us focused and observing the tubes in all their detail.

1. speed drawing - the artist draws the item , showing all the detail possible, in 1 minute.

2. Blind, contour drawings- the artist draws the tube of toothpast, without lifting the pencil and without looking at the page. We use a card in the non dominant hand to shield the page.

3. Drawing with both hands simultaneously - the artist draws the tube with 2 pencils at the same time.

We then spent some time drawing ad shading the tubes. These are some of our artworks. Enjoy!!
