This is a lesson in abstract art. Where on earth does it fit in along the art history line of artists and art development? Well , we explored the ideas that shapped the develoment of Abstract art in a very general way.
We have been enjoying the 7 elements of art and the children are all well soaked in them so it was interesting to see that abstract art is about the elements of art becoming the subject of the art.
We created abstract art paintings by making step by step progressions and we used line to create shape and spaces.
The children could choose colours that they thought would work well together.
The idea was to create a tower of paint , with smaller areas of paint being added on to the dry large areas. The detail was then placed on the final product.
