I like to start a term with drawing. We always use a B pencil because the graphite is soft and the children find it easy to produce a variety of tones. We discussed the elements of art with this one.

There are 7 elements of art and much like a cake, these are the ingredients that are used to make a work of art. Not all of them are necessarily used and it is fun trying to see which ones are and which are not.
This still life was done over a few weeks. It was extremely time consuming because the paper we used was large. For some kids, we stopped when week 3 came along.
